find your ceiling

Every day you may be limiting your potential by failing to cover key ideas for success. As you read this post, consider how well you are satisfying each aspect.

First, you must take responsibility for all aspects of your career. Not everything is in your control, but far more than you probably estimate is. When opportunities knock seemingly by chance, you either created them somewhere in the past, or prepared adequately to ensure your success when they came. Take complete ownership of your choices and how they influence your reality for greater control over your direction. This includes setting priorities, embracing discomfort, staying disciplined and giving up on making excuses.


It is also important to not only set goals, but actively visualise what you are trying to achieve. Be specific. Think about what you want to achieve from your career, from the current season and even the next game. Know what it feels like to succeed and fail at this. The difficult decisions of each day become easier with the natural drive of this imagery pushing you into action.


Much stagnation and failure occurs because we are misaligned. Once you have goals, become aware of what is expected of you for high achievement and then ensure that you live by them. Where most fail is not always in the gaining of expert knowledge, but inability to apply the actions which reflect them.


Feed your mind. Just like any other muscle, your mind needs to be stimulated to become stronger. Immerse yourself in environments that help you grow. Get uncomfortable. Gain experience overcoming challenges and goals at the periphery of what you are capable of achieving. Escape vices and bad habits which lower your self-esteem. Surround yourself by good people who want the best for you. In being disciplined, working hard towards well thought out training and removing negative chatter, you can really begin to push towards your real ceiling.
